Some history of the Dalkeith Real Estate Market
An affluent suburb that is now home to some of Perth’s most prominent and prestigious properties, Dalkeith was originally farmland. In 1831, a gentleman by the name of Adam Armstrong acquired “Location 85” – a 320-acre estate that he named Dalkeith Farm after his birthplace in Scotland.
The farm was sold for 250 pounds only eight years later and after eventually being leased and purchased by James Gallop, it became a well-established market garden which supplied the Perth and Fremantle areas with much of its fresh produce. Residential development didn’t begin until the 1920s and 1930s when the extensive clearing of bushland in both Nedlands and Dalkeith saw the suburb start to grow. Bordered by the picturesque Swan River on three sides, Dalkeith has provided a wonderful waterfront lifestyle for residents over the years and continues to do so.
Dalkeith is a great place to call home
Dalkeith is home to Jutland Parade, considered the most expensive and exclusive street in the suburb – and arguably the whole of Perth – due to its numerous multi-million-dollar estates. Most of the suburb basks in breathtaking views of the glistening Swan River waters, while there are so many beautiful parks and reserves to explore – including the tremendous Mason Gardens, the waterside Point Resolution Reserve and the neighbouring David Cruickshank Reserve, which is home to both the Dalkeith Tennis Club, Dalkeith Nedlands Bowling Club and Dalkeith Rotary Club
Other local recreational facilities include the Dalkeith Nedlands Junior Football Club. Dalkeith Primary School is the local school and shopping amenities are easily accessible within the surrounding suburbs. Approximately 15 minutes separate Dalkeith from the heart of the Perth CBD via Stirling Highway and Mounts Bay Road’s scenic riverside route.
Why you should live in Dalkeith
Characterised by impressive residential architecture, this stunning leafy suburb lends itself to families seeking a truly enviable lifestyle where leisurely strolls down to the gorgeous river foreshore are a daily occurrence. Some of the State’s top educational and medical facilities are also nearby and only add to Dalkeith’s spectacular appeal.
You will also be far enough removed from any major traffic without losing the convenience to access absolutely everything you could ever want or need. The suburb’s exquisite greenery, coupled with almost every single home on every single street being immaculately presented upon first impression, make it an enchanting place to live.
