Some history of the Swanbourne Real Estate Market

Swanbourne is one of the more affluent suburbs in Perth, being surrounded by Fremantle to the south, City Beach to the north, with Mount Claremont as an inland neighbouring suburb and Cottesloe directly to the south. It is also a well-established area and regularly features in Real Estate literature as one of the “Top 10” most popular suburbs to live in.

Originally named “Osborne”, Swanbourne was renamed to its current title in 1921 in order for the suburb not to be confused with Osborne Park in Perth’s north. It is also home to the heritage-listed Swanbourne Army Complex on West Coast Highway.

The Swanbourne Rifle Range site was acquired by the Commonwealth around 1911 as a replacement for the earlier (Colonial-era) rifle range at Karrakatta, which had been declared unsafe. Campbell Barracks itself is made up of mostly post-World War II buildings which date from circa-1960 through to recent times.

Swanbourne is a great place to call home

Enjoy all the attributes of city living in Swanbourne while being removed from excessive urbanisation. Features unique to the suburb include Cottesloe Golf Course, Swanbourne Railway Station, Swanbourne Primary School and Scotch College.

Swanbourne Beach also offers beautiful views to a number of stunning homes in the area. Its two main reserves are Allen Park to the west of Stirling Highway and Cresswell Park to the east.

The Allen Park Tennis Club is one of the other recreational facilities found within this intimate coastal suburb. Swanbourne Railway Station is its nearest public-transport hub.

Why you should live in Swanbourne

Walk or pedal to the beach, enjoy the terrific sporting facilities at Allen Park and take advantage of quality schools and shopping – there is an endless list of benefits associated with living in beautiful Swanbourne. Don’t forget about the great public-transport options – something very important when it comes to these highly-desirable suburbs.

Quirky shops, cafes and take-away food outlets at Swanbourne Village are also a plus. An overall relaxed feel definitely makes Swanbourne one of the hottest locales on our pristine Western Australian coastline.
